Is moss or lichens, or otherwise green covering on vanda roots harmful? Male
Default Is moss or lichens, or otherwise green covering on vanda roots harmful?

I just ordered some new orchids, and when they arrived, my renenthera's base and roots are covered in moss and green material. Is this harmful?

Most Vandacious plants have a co-existence with algae and moss. If the roots are pencil thick and the leaves are robust then you do not have anything to worry about. This is also a sign that the plant is getting the right humidity and moisture. Just follow the culture and maintain a watering/fertilizer regimen.

No, it is not harmful. If you don't like it, you don't have to have them there.
