When I went to a show this last weekend, I wanted to have one for a long time, so finally I gave my self a present, not from Kawamoto, he was there, he sold all of them.l got it from another vendor, its about 2', bare roots, she told me to attach it to a wood, no potting mix. Is that ok?

It was the emperor owned by Tommy that I was describing since I saw it on his list.

What I want to know is what is that absolutely beautiful Platycerium behind the orchid.
Thanks

By all means, you can mount this kind of orchid plant and hang it outdoors. Your environment has high humidity all year ....just put it indoors if there is a threat of frost....you don't want this plant in any temperature below 40F

You may gradually adapt this plant to full sun or you might burn the leaves. Make sure you know how your plant grew on the seller's environment, you may also ask then for some tips. With Kawamoto Orchids they are in shaded bright light and my plant was from the father's private collection and it was exposed to direct sunlight so in the summer I gradually introduce it to direct sun out on the fire escape but in winter I let it inside the south facing window.

Thanks for the visit!!!!
Spray the roots with hydrogen peroxide or brown listerine to rule out fungi or bacteria. You have high heat and humidity that harbors infestation. The plant is using the energy reserves of the lower leaves because the roots fail to gather nutrients. There is something going on with the roots failing to provide for the plant. Soak the roots first in soapy water for five minutes before you apply remedy to prepare the spongy layer of the roots to absorb well.
