Pls let me know if posting my pic here is inappropriate and I will delete.

Pic is of a Renanthera at the nursery.
The boss was selling this S$20 per pot.

These can't be placed under direct sun?
Posting your picture in my thread is very useful and informative; it gives the others a comparison and I am assured that the picture in your photo captured the real color of the flowers.

My plant is in direct sun in the fire escape from sunrise up to 10am then the tall buildings shade it from the harsh 12 noon to 3pm heat...then it gets 4pm sun till dusk....

I'm not sure if my plant was a meriiclone or a keiki from the parent plant but the flowers are a show stopper when in bloom. I posted a picture of my plant in bloom at this link: Ren. How come I didn't get to see your thread before?
You have a magnificent picture.
I should have waited until all my buds have all opened....

Thanks for the visit and your kind words....
You can have room for this if you hang it by the window....this is a hybrid so it blooms twice a year....

I'm afraid that, being an orchid addict, I can't find my windows any more. I have some seedlings that will eventually get big too.
But I'm tempted to get one of these anyway! I love it! The Azima I had would have been similar but with more markings. I'm not sure what the parents are for that one.

I looked it up. Mine was a Renansylis Azimah
[Ren Nancy Chandler x Rhy Gigantea]
It would have been more compact and free flowering, if I hadn't killed it. I find seedlings to be a little delicate at times.
I just may have to find room for that dragon. Maybe more lights.

Thank's Bud. I'll have to take a look at what our local orchid grows have. Maybe for my birthday. But I will need another light I think. What a terrible addiction!

Its not an addiction with you because you still can control when you are going to acquire an orchid; and you are thinking ahead where you will place it....an addict buys orchids at will whatever it is as long as it is available, no matter what kind; and is awaiting what will be available next season and have ordered ahead ....

Kawamoto orchids still sell seedlings of these plants online via Ebay ending in 10 days for $20 with $12 shipping; you may also do a 'buy it now' or haggle for a couple of dollars lower.

You have a very good point, Bud. I like the way you think. There is an Ebay seller who has Azimah x Bangcock Flame seedlings, but then I would have to wait for years. I've already bough 3 of his seedings of other vandaceous hybrids. I have a long wait ahead of me.

It is advisable to buy well established plants or near blooming orchids....seedlings have a high mortality rate and it is really hit or miss.

You are certainly right about that. I have lost a few myself. Unfortunately there is very little available to us and what there is is very expensive. I'm hoping that the
seedlings do well. They arrived very healthy, but I have no idea how many years it will be. If I buy a Ren. it will have to be and adult plant.
