Default Neofinetia falcata x Papilionanthe teres

Hi,

I just bought a Neofinetia falcata x Papilionanthe teres. When taking it out of the pot the plant I saw that it was in old sphagnum moss and all roots in the moss were rotted off. The plant has grown new roots above the base and is looking healthy. Since Papilionanthe teres likes to be in soil and heavily fertilized and Neofinetia does not, I would greatly appreciate some growing tips. I grow all my neo's and their hybrids practically bare rooted with some sphagnum underneath their roots since all other methods of growing them gave me bad results.
Thanks for the help.

I have this cross as well and grow it like that for Vanda teres. Most people here grow it in the coarse medium, such as tree fern fiber or bark.
Here is the link to the previous photo of my plant.

Thanks for the reply. Over here, tree fern fiber is no longer available since a change in CITES regulations recently. Would a mix of bark and sphagnum work as well?
You grow it in a plastic flower pot. Does it have extra holes in the sides?
How about fertilizing, how many times and what concentration?
Nice plant by the way, any pics of the flowers?
I put my plant above a flower pot with the mixture I mentioned and directed some of the roots towards the medium because I was afraid when putting the base of the plant into the pot it would rot away.

I think that bark mix is a good choice for this plant. While the plant grows taller, it would more like V. teres and at that time, the upper roots would free in the air. It means that with high humidity, it can grow without medium.
As for plant food, I give it like that for other orchids, every one or two weeks, regularly.
The black plastic pot has a lot of side holes which provides good drainage and ventilation.
