Both Vanda are making robust roots and lots of them....in a couple of years they will grow taller and the roots longer....bet you will have a greenhouse in 5 years....

Thanks, Bud! I'm a little surprised how well I've done with these plants. As you said, who would have thought I'd had such luck in Colorado!!!! Lol

Love that color and pattern! Does it take a lot of work to keep them watered and such?

A lot is a relative term. But I can tell you that I dunk these plants in a 5 gal bucket every other day. I'm in the orchid area already so I just toss them in when I first walk in and take them out when I leave. I do have a heavy mister on auto though that hits these guys for one minute every day.

This is a lovely Vanda and I love the leaves and roots; looks very exotic, and ironically it is an exotic orchid. Did you get this directly from Mote?
The only downfall of growing under lights and even in places that aren't warm year round is that you give up flower count to enjoy growing vandas. My mature guys are putting out 10-23 blooms per spike.
I love it though; great growing!

Amazing! Great growing considering your dry and non-tropical climate. I have my first Vanda and I too dunk it in a 5 gallon pail every few days.

No I got this plant from Goodwin's out of Leesburg, FL, whilst visiting my inlaws. They live in this place called "The Villages," which is an enormous retirement community. I get a little crazy down there because I am active and want to go out and do things and I can't because I'm not a resident there and so I LEAVE the community in search of orchids. LOL
The flower count thing is interesting. I was hoping for more but I like what I see, so if that is the extent of it, I'm ok with that, but I'll do my best to get them to grow more!!!!! i don't know how old this plant is.

Nice!
What is this growing setup for your vanda, Ryan?
I dried my blue vanda to death.
Keeping it watered enough was just too much hassel for me. no vanda for me again.
I tried to take a shower with it everyday but hanging in the sunny window dried it up really fast.
Anyway, I do like to look at them though of course.
I saw three different vandas hanging near the ceiling of a store in flower distric today and one of them was white with heavy blue spots. I really had to force my shopping urge down.
