V. JVB x Ascda Butterfly flowering
It took some difficulty, but finally my V. JVB x Ascda Butterfly opened a bloom. I purchased it in spike from RF Orchids in Homestead about a month ago, but for whatever reason it had some bud blast recently that destroyed the other buds. I have no idea why this is, as we have not had temperature changes recently that were extreme, and I've been careful to water and fertilize it. It's beginning to show more signs of growth now, but I have a theory that maybe it didn't have enough roots to support a spike very well right now. I do see what may be another spike beginning to emerge from the plant, although I am not 100% certain. It's also beginning to grow some new roots, which is good. I think it's mostly coming around after some difficulties.

Very pretty! Bud blast on vandas is often caused by thrips in Florida. The next time you get buds spray them with Othro Rose & Flower twice 7-10 days apart.

I am glad to see you have finally gotten your bloom. I started a thread with photos of my jbv x butterfly dbl spike. Mine is a young but vigorous plant. Feel free to check it out in my posts. The blooms are very long lasting in the right conditions. Mine lasted 3 months +. What's interesting about this cross is that the colours change over time they start Orange/red then they get gold/orange, then gold yellow. My own is actually in spike again with a double spike and some on one spike are already open. I will make sure to post some pics soon.
Enjoy this one; it is certainly a rewarding cross, and gorgeous in large groups. It's like a sea of bright colours.

Yeah I was impressed by yours; hopefully mine will get to that point eventually. Like I said in the OP, it looks like I might have another spike poking out, which would be good.

You will get there. That bud drop sounds like a humidity issue; especially in FL. I was just up in boca at my place for a month. Air movement isn't always great so I had to cut open the sheaths on my catts to prevent moisture buildup. And on days when the air was stagnant I left my vanda seedlings inside right at the sliding doors so they got all the bright light without the stagnant air. Usually from 11am - 3pm.
I will post pics soon.

Here are the new dbl spikes on my young plant. They both have about 8 blooms each; and as you can see one has already opened most. Enjoy

Very nice...I'm glad to see that my plant started pushing out a lot more roots today that I had not previously noticed. It also does appear like it is going to produce a 2nd spike eventually (it's barely visible).
