Default Mounted vandas

Has anyone mounted their vandas like this?

The mount/ pole is made with 2 layers of wire mesh with sphag sandwiched in between. I guess the whole thing gets a soaking in a bucket a few times a week?
It seems to have worked well for this person.

Any thoughts?

I have two of my vanda-types mounted on cork with nothing but a little fishing line to hold them in place. As long as they get light, water and food...they're happy

How do you water vandas that are mounted? Do you spray it? What is the advantage over baskets?
Thks!

They get sprayed as do all the vandas that are either in baskets or free-hanging.

Looks like they have multiple plants on the mount. I don't see where there is any advantage to the trouble of constructing this mount. I find that most of my vanda's just want their roots free hanging. Most of mine are in baskets, but a couple are just on hangers and they all do equally well.
