Yay, I ordered a pachara delight online which was in spike but unfortunately the spike blasted.
Now, only a month later has pushed out another spike.

Will update the progress.

Looking forward to blooms! I just bought my first Vanda. It is a Sansai Blue, but no sign of a spike yet.

V. Pachara Delight is one of my all time favorites. Congratulations on the new spike. Small vandas occasionally do suffer from bud blast or have spikes fail but that happens less often as they get bigger. Pachara Delight is a very reliable bloomer that can bloom several times a year.

What I don't get is why the new leaves coming out on hanging vandas have tips that look like an insect was nibbling on them. No matter if you spray or what, every new leaf emerging has tips like this. Just like the one in your photos.

It's genetic. I'm not sure if it has a purpose other than stabbing me in the face as I'm walking through the greenhouse. Those things can be sharp!

Thank God for tons of yard space and a huge greenhouse with a 12 foot high section solely for my hanging vandas.

Just some advice, try to give watching for spikes a break, they will drive u crazy waiting and watching. Oh, and fertilize your vanda everyday. Watering before fertilizing so you dont build up salts. But everyday! Until it starts to get cold again. Thats what i do, and i have rampant and serial spiking.

It's sooo frustrating!
It's so close to opening... But in 2 days time I go on holiday for a week! Hopefully it'll be open tomorrow or the morning before I go.

The best way to bloom anything is to leave home for a week. When you return you can enjoy the already spent blooms.
