Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has acess to orchidwiz or a photo.
I've been looking for a V. Gordon Dillon 'Lea' which I haven't found at my local orchid nursery's but I did find a v. Gordon Dillon 'black magic'.

Does anyone know if they look similar?
The 'Lea' has really nice deep purple spots.

Thanks for your help

I did look in OW and found lots of pics of 'Lea' but none for 'Black Magic'. The multiple pics for 'Lea' showed it looking a lot darker in some than others. Almost like what I would have thought Black Magic might look like. I found nothing with a quick Google on the web either. Sorry.

Ok, thanks for having a look. I guess the black magic would just be a darker version of the 'lea'

Based on a single picture of 'Black Magic' from a Bing search, 'Lea' and 'Black Magic' have quite similar dark spotting and overall appearance. Since the pictures of 'Lea' are variable it is hard to access the real differences.

I have one. I have actually posted threads with its blooms a few times on these board. Mine has the deep purple spotting you speak of. I honestly believe they are all the same for the most part. Is it that you are having trouble finding it period? I get the impression that gordon dillon is just gordon dillon unless you are speaking of GD 'Pink' in which case its not that deep purple. Wish you luck in adding one to ur collection.

Thanks!
Yes I've seen pics of Gordon Dillon Lea and loved it, but can't find it at the nursery, but I bought a NFS gd " black magic" so I'm happy if it's basically the same.

I wouldn't worry too much. If there is a difference I'm sure its just minor and probably now a difference in colouration, but in flower shape at most.

I went back to have a look at your g. Dillon photos and I'm pretty sure it was that post and pics that made me want one... Now I just have to wait about a year or something for mine to bloom haha. It's gonna be a long year!

Yes you certainly have a long wait. Mine actually is in spike again now. The spike started coming up before the previous spike started to completely fade.
