Assortment of Cuttings Vanda cuttings

Just had to share. These are off of some of my largest most gorgeous sun vandas. They were moved to a new location and blooms actually take a lot of energy out of the plant so I cut them off to reduce stress of the change of location.

Gorgeous flowers....

the energy is already given to the flowers when it blooms so the plant will no longer give out energy when the flowers open....
no need to cut some flowers; just let it wither by itself....
the plant will form a keiki, new leaves and roots to make more energy to help it spike and flower for the next cycle....

*relocating the plant will shock it if it is still forming spikes and might blast the buds....but opened blooms or making new growths; it will recover and adjust to its new environment

On the contrary. When they bloom it takes a lot of stored energy to form the blooms and sustain them for 3/4 weeks. All its energy is focused on the blooms. This is the main reason why when you import vandas for example and they come in spike or flowering you need to cut off the blooms if you want them to settle & root quicker. I do also understand what you are saying though. Remember that the reason for orchids flowering is for the sake of carrying on life in the wild by attracting insects to pollinate the flowers etc. etc. Of course us caring for them providing the perfect environment for them year round they still produce those flower for the same reason although their survival depends on us and not really mother nature. So it puts all its stored energy into those blooms. So you can understand why I cut the blooms because they were moved to an area with more direct sun and they aren't packed on table closely, they are now spread out.
