For the species or some amazing denisoniana hybrids, try Motes Orchids in Redlands - vandas@mindspring.com

Brian, give RF Orchids a call (or, if you're lucky enough to live nearby, pay the a visit). They have nice blooming-size plants of this species for sale.

I have this species and didn't know that it was a cool grower. That could explain some things...
To me it smells like orange blossoms. My hasn't bloomed this year, but maybe it will once the temps get cooler here.

Oh, I also bought this one at Louis Del Favero's, he had 2 varieties, one was marked 'Orange', but the flowers didn't show up orange, so I don't know what that was all about! I bought the regular variety.

In hailand there is a special variety that called Sampoy Loung . Sampoy are the native name for those Vanda groups of Vanda bensonei called Sampoy Chompoo mean Pink sampoy. Vanda liouverie or used to knowed as Vanda brunea called sampoy nok meaned bird liked Sampoy as their flowered look like flying bird. For Vanda denisoniana in Thailand had 3 distinguish forms the yellow one called Sampoy Kuntan as the Kuntah Mountain in Lamphun province that used to be their home however this vanda had found in outher places too such as in Pa Yoa province . At Chieng Mai Sampoy that collected are the White flowered called Sampoy Koa mean white Sampoy, and some that found in Measareang in Mae Hong Sorn province called Sampoy Dong meaned jungle Sampoy with the flower color are shade of browned if the flower color are sported brown coll Sampoy Koon Youm this one founded at Koon Youm in Mea Hong Sorn. Thebrown variety were found out to be 4n. and could give a good smelled when crossed with other vandaceous orchids.
Now aday most of the habbitat had less.still need to make more obserbed in the wild population. but the cultivated varity will had more mice colored and formed due to selection and long breeding plans of the nursery.

thanks for the update to this thread. I am partial to vandas, especially species like denisoniana. I have a clone called 'orange' - as it opens it is pale yellow, but as the flower matures, the color deepens to a rich orange. Do you have photos of the Sampoy that you mention? Thank you for sharing.
