Amazing! I just bought one in spike last weekend and it has one spike, but I am sure in the delivery and unpacking at the event it lost a few buds. Still beautiful, though!
So you aren't supposed to cut the spike on this one? Generally speaking, I don't cut spikes off until they are dried up/dead anyway, but good to know.
If you look at the very first pictures a couple of years ago, you will notice three little spikes already forming on just one plant but I was so excited that I took pictures of the flowers without waiting for the other spikes to bloom. This time I waited until the spikes developed and then took the pictures.
Your plant will make more spikes just be patient=and don't cut it.
I am so envious of your success!!! My 2 are just languishing . Clearly I haven't figured out the culture yet. Both are in small clay pots with large bark. They are misted & watered regularly, but do dry out. They are outdoors right now in dappled sun and are indoors in a "tabletop" greenhouse for humidity in the winter, with early morning sun. HELP!
You can grow this outdoors in the summer and put it indoors two weeks before frost....I give this culture like my Neofinetia falcata. One stem might give you four spikes when it is mature enough (about four to five years old).
