Neostylis Fuchs Ocean Spray

This is a Neostylis hybrid and the flowers looks like nosegay.
It is fragrant in the morning especially by noonday, scent smells like my grandfather’s hair pomade.
I am growing this hanged in basket lined with coco fibers and sprinkled around its roots medium charcoal, lava rock, hydroton and sponge rock…. I give this bright to full sunlight and grown cool to intermediate temperatures. I water it frequently in the warmer months, weekly weakly fertilizer alternated with seaweed mix and worm tea mix.

Manhattan in the summer is hot and humid that is loved by Vandacious plants....I also give it fertilizer weekly weakly alternated with seaweed mix....in the winter just a couple of weeks before frost=the plants get indoors and since the heater can dry most orchids: I invested in humidifiers and small oscillating electric fans to mimic the tropical balmy air that these plants originally are used to.
tip: avoid the cold frost

Bud, I'm not far from you in NW Bergen County NJ (about 20 miles from midtown). I have a terrific indoor space (I will post picture when I bring everything inside) I have Darwinara Charm 'Blue Star" just starting to bloom - only 1 bud open so far and about 10 on the spike. Can't wait for the rest to open.

I just retired, so I am giving better care. Before it was just neglect

Lucky you ! You have more time for your orchids. I am familiar with your area....you can put all your plants outdoors in the warmer months under some shady trees....where is your indoor space facing?

My indoor space is a sun room (almost a greenhouse) that is attached to the house. It uses the house' forced hot air heating and has emergency electric heat for when it gets really cold. It has a fountain for humidity, and benches that drain excess water into a dry well. The benches retain about 1" of water about 4-6" below the pot bottoms to provide humidity as well. The room is about 10x 12 feet with 3 walls and a roof of glass. It was a Four Seasons kit. It faces east by south east. In the winter with the leaves off the trees its gets reasonable sun. High light orchids are hung closer to the glass roof

In the summer, orchids are outside on our cement patio on benches. (Phals stay inside) The cement helps with cooling in the hottest weather as we just wet it down. Large shade tress provide good shading and I use non-orchid plants to provide more shade where needed.

I'm very excited that my Lou Sneary I tried very hard to kill the first 1.5 years I had it, but rebounded exceptionally well (tho took a couple of years) has two spikes!

never knew this plant could look like that. I've seen many pictures of this plant on the internet, but nothing better than yours!

I bought this one (but the tag read Vasco...maybe it was an error). Anyways, it had about a dozen flowers on one spike, but then the plant was much smaller than yours.
Mine smelled stronger during the night time.
I loved the flower color and frangrace and all, but I just couldn't keep the roots moist enough and the plant got worse and worse, the small black dots started to appear, which I really really hate to see on any plants leaves. so I just let it go. lol

Yours have really nice healthy looking leaves also!

May I ask what fertilizer you use? I used liquid one for houseplants ( it says it can be used for orchids also), then I read somewhere how non urea fertilizer is better for orchids. so I switched to non urea fertilizer, but I don't think I see any difference in plants growth.
Also, what does seaweed mix have in it and what does it do to orchids??
