You are right, this plant is not easy to grow. I had problems with scale, water droplet spots and fungi ... but with the help of other members and from following religiously the culture of this plant: I was able to establish the mother plant and let it bloom and give me keikies....I have all in all five plants including the mother and they bloom beautifully ....the mother comes with me on tours packed well in a wedding box thru airports and hangs at the center of the bathroom window in every hotel I am in...now its the mother, daughter and grandaughter that accompanies me.

I thought I was bad! I'm taking my baby vandaceous to the cottage with me because I'm afraid to leave them with the house sitter for a week.
Beautiful Vanda Bud! It shows what you can do with a small amount of space if you are willing. I am finally getting the red vasco I've wanted for 3 years! Where will I put it?

I'm kind of the same way....i get worried about them. But i leave them with my mom and shes been doing this before me soo

You are lucky. I am relying on an elderly neighbour who forgets things. I leave little notes on everything and I'm thinking about leaving the large vandas in their little greenhouse to make it easier for her to water them. The largest one is kind of big and awkward for an 80 year old to lug around. maybe it's just as well that we can only afford to go away one week of the year. She shouldn't be able to kill them in one week [hopefully]

We rented a cottage on Shanagan lake here on the Island. That way we can share costs with my brother, take the dogs and bird [and probably baby orchids] It's off season so it's cheaper.
