Just received today. I really wasn't prepared for how tiny this plant is. It has three spikes. Unfortunately there was a poor, dead, bud accompanying one of them - it didn't make the trip.

There is one, small, bud just starting on the second spike and the third spike looks like it's just started. Hopefully I'll see some blooms soon.

Very nice. I just mounted mine. They just aren't as impressive in a pot.

It looks like it is going to produce several flowers....its a happy healthy plant....its mounted so you need more humidity and moisture to maintain the buds to open and bloom

I actually can't imagine this little guy in a pot! Did you have any problems mounting yours Leafmite? I'm not mad on the square, cork, mounts so I might move it to a different mount next year.

Thanks Bud! I'll keep an eye on the humidity, though we normally don't have a problem with humidity here in Ireland. What is the recommended level? It normally doesn't go below 60% here.

Nice!

I remember when this was the project plant a few years ago - and so many people thought they had received a tiny seedling, and no amount of trying to convince them that no, they're just very tiny plants, convinced them til their plant spiked a few months later

Mine are potted (yes, plural - I started with one for the project, but it has blessed me with babies) - might try mounting one if I can find something I like to mount it on ...

I used a piece of lava rock for my haraella. I mounted it yesterday, bare root, tied with a strip of nylon stocking. For humidity, it is in a clear yogurt cup. The rock sits in a bit of water. All those anthuriums and neos I have seen mounted this way have inspired me-- though my rock is rather small

Sonya you are so right! When I opened the box and saw it, for a split second I also thought it couldn't possibly be blooming size! Then I saw the little spikes and the little dried bud. I couldn't believe it!

@ Leafmite - I've been keeping an eye open for nice rocks to try as mounts. Am I right in saying that the lava rock is porous? I'd love to see pics of your mount!

Nice little plant, it looks cute and healthy.
You will enjoy it.
I have mine mounted on the piece of the grape wood since last October and she likes it.
I found old picture of it with bloom:

I cut those spikes to encourage some rest for my plant. She grew couple new leaves and roots.
I keep mine in the humidity tray with about 80% and it is now growing two new spikes. I think humidity is very important also to keep buds from blasting.

Orchideya, yours looks so beautiful on its mount! That is exactly the kind of wood I prefer for mounts. I can't wait for mine to bloom now.

Mmmmm.... This little guy might have to go into my mini greenhouse then to keep the humidity that high. Somehow I don't think I'll have a problem with fitting it in.
