Mokara Chark Kuan 'gold'
Mokara is an artificial hybrid generic name derives from the crossing of Arachnis x Ascocentrum x Vanda.
Mokara Chark Kuan is a Malaysian hybrid registered in 1976. The large, spotted delicate flowers of Mokara Chark Kuan comes with many varieties –‘Gold’, ‘Pink’, ‘Orange’, ‘Rose’, ‘Red’, etc….
I grow this in S/H method=my very first plant on S/H (see my older posting a year ago when I first posted this on the S/H thread) , this is the 4 th time that this plant bloomed in my care; currently outside on the fire escape of my apartment in direct sun but shaded from 11am to 3pm by tall buildings….in winter it goes indoors on a south facing window….this loves to feed and drink a lot.
This flower is also my official personal ID on this board.
Mokara Chark Kuan ‘gold’ has freckled golden flowers of about 9 by 8 cm wide. The flowers are really stunning, elegant and lovely to look at.

I noticed something about your orchids, in the vase culture than you usually have inside don't put out as many bloom as i'd expect for the size, age, and type of orchid and the avg # or blooms. Maybe its because of the weather where you are, and the steps you need to take to compensate for the seasons.
Just found that interesting, especially looking at my mokara with a dbl spike growing as fast as ever, and another red mokara sayan cross......and it has minimum 13 blooms as a young plant. Interesting.

Beautiful! I notice that you have your s/h containers sitting in a dish of water. Is this so you don't have to water as often? I have started using deeper containers so the reservoir is deeper. It is handy for when I go away for a while.

Thank You CR7cristiano !
Yes, my Vandacious plants would grow bigger and flower more if I had the outdoor humidity that you have....since my winter culture is artificial; then I just have to suffer some set backs; but I do the best I can to give them the ideal environment that they would have gotten in their habitat.
Thank You so much Gage for your kindness and for the encouragements

Thank You, Vanda lover !
The main vase is drilled with two holes with a diamond coated drill bit....the bowl of water must only be 1/4 level and must not touch the roots. Vandacious plants dont like cold water touching the tips of the roots. I just spray the aerial roots every other morning and flush the whole vessel every other week.
A deeper reservoir will immerse the roots and we dont want that....we let the new roots go to the water and immerse themselves in time....
