Default Not sure how to mount a Vanda

Hello everyone, i'm pretty new to orchids, I just got my first vanda, a Mimi Palmer, and I wanted to mount it on a wood slat window cover i'm making. I am just not sure how to get it secure. I was also wondering what other species do well mounted. thanks for the help. Peace

Mimi Palmer can get pretty big ... are you sure you want to mount it or are you putting it into a slatted basket?

I have the same type of slatted wood that one would hang on the wall, but my idea is to make it into a small end table to display a few of my orchids, so i till be lying horizonal not mounted vertical.

Ok, so let's think of this as a slatted basket (without sides).

Drill a small 1/4" hole into the bottom of the baskets, into which you'll put a 1/4" dowel (that is as taller or taller than your plant). Position the plant next to the dowel, teasing any (downward facing) roots through the slats. Use cable ties to support the whole growth, straight up, to the dowel.

Great idea with the dowel. I would use a shorter one and strap a metal one to it. It will not be as visible at the top as would be the dowel.
