Default Thrixspernum centipeda

A small orchid in the Vanda tribe. I grow it in my terrarium and this is the first time it has flowers. The flower is about 2.5 cm. and only lasted for two days. It is supposed to smell of perfume , but i did not have time enough to detect it. I try not to disturbe flowering orchids by moving them around too much.

The growth forms and flowers of orchids constantly amazes me!

Neat plant. Will it get more flowers on that stem, like a larger Vanda relative?

The "centipeda" is from the growth habit of the plant, not the flowers.

If you see the entire plant, you'll know why.

There is roots along the whole plant, so that is why the name "centipeda" suits it
My plant is mounted on a small piece of bark and it was hanging down when i bought it three years ago. It has tried to reach for the light so it is growing uppwards and i cant show a "good" picture of it.
Hopefully there will be more flowers on the spike.
