Question new Vanda Spike seems to have slowed/stopped growing

I have a mid-size semi-terete vanda that is a relatively young plant; If i was being more specific I'd say its about several months from reaching mature size. In its previous location there was slow growth but it had never spiked, only new root growth and slow leaf growth.
I was of the opinion that it wasn't getting enough sun throughout the day plus it wasn't potted properly so i repotted it and moved it to a location that gets a lot of sun throughout the morning and afternoon. After about a month and a half it started to look much healthier and there was plenty of new root growth with lots of green tips. It eventually spiked for the first time ever which suggests to me that it is very happy in its new location.

Here is the issue though, the spike has emerged from the leaf base and looks extremely healthy but after almost 3 weeks maybe even close to a month it doesn't seem to be growing. What is the problem & what can be done to help it grow?
Whats worse is that a younger plant that spiked weeks after it has surpassed it growth-wise.....

HELP!

be patient....some Vanda spikes takes more than 2 month to open its blooms; as long as it didnt turn brown or black then its still working on its flowers....do not stop fertilizer and water....keep on doing what you are doing

I agree with Bud. I wouldn't worry about it as long as it is still green. If it decides to abort the spike for whatever reason you can't do anything about it anyway. Many orchid spikes take awhile to develop and open their flowers. Just try to be patient and keep doing what your doing. Post pics when it blooms!

Well i wish their were signs to tell when an orchid has aborted its new spike. But this is odd as the orchids i referenced havent been disturbed or experienced any shock to it. I don't water when the sun is hot or too late as I know those things cause shock to the orchid.
So i only hope it is just taking longer since this is its first time being healthy and happy enough in its location that its spike is really going to need some time.

*fingers crossed*

You would know if it aborted its spike. It would shrivel and turn brown and probably fall off at some point. If it's still green I say it's fine just taking its time to annoy you!

I think you did the right thing by moving the plant into a location where it gets more light. Vandas always seem to grow better when given some good strong light. My experience with spikes that stop growing is that they usually don't start up again. I have no idea what causes them to stop. The more likely scenario will be that the plant produces a new spike, especially now that it's getting more light. Good luck.

Nooooo...why did you go and say that now
lol....well I hope that isn't the case, because the spike is a very fresh and healthy lime green colour. If the it is like you say, that being the worst case scenario, then does the small spike need to be cut off to initiate a new spike?
