Vandas in our garden (Philippines) - I
Here are a few of our Vandas in bloom. Had them initially as cuttings, mounted them on driftwoods, and they are in bloom now after a couple of years. Not the first time though that they flowered.

WELCOME AND HELLO !
You have large Vanda specimens with beautiful pastel colors...do you have their names?
I noticed you have mounted them on dead tree log stands
Your area is equatorial and with high humidity. I can see you successfully grow Vandas outdoors...
dont the leaves burn in direct sun?

Hello everyone!
Unfortunately I do not know the names of our Vandas (a shame!). I must be too overwhelmed when buying cuttings that I forget to know their names. But I believe the ones I posted here are of Velthius strains, since the flowers are huge and round. Not the JVB strain.
Yes they are mounted on tree logs. I think they grow best on them most specially the semi-terete ones like what I have posted here.
Fortunately their leaves do not get burned. It's still quite a summer here by the way. They receive direct sunlight but not whole day. They are watered regularly so that they won't get dehydrated.
Will post more pics soon! Thank you.

semi-terete velthius....it must be a hybrid. It would be nice to ask your vendor/grower before buying the cuttings if they have the names.
Some of the Vandas in my collection are indeginous to the Philippines: Vanda Luzonica, Euentha sanderiana (waling-waling) ...and some Dendrobiums and Bulbophylums....
I am lucky to avail of at least 4 months of warm weather outside my fire escape for my Vandas....but they all come inside two weeks before the frost of winter comes

Noted! Will ask for the name next time.
Oh waling-waling! There is I think a proposal here in the PHL to make it as our national flower. Glad to know that our waling-waling has reached that part of the world.
Thanks again.
