There is a lot of "red" Ascocendas that look alike my Asco, i know of at least nine, but i think the Hot Red is one of the "best" ones there is to buy.
The flowers will not last much longer on my plant and i cant resist showing one last picture. Blood red and glistening lips to die for

I still am a bit concerned that there will not be enough leaves for it to flower as many times as usual this year.
One of my other Vandas has a spike in the "wrong " place and i am not happy.

Gorgeous! Love the color. Vandas are so pretty, but their care intimidates me a little....

Is that a terminal spike on that vanda? I have never come across that but on one phal years ago and it couldnt grow any more leaves so I had to wait till it gave me a keiki before it passed.

Yes it is a terminal spike and it is the first time it flowers
At least i got to see how the flowers look like because it will be a long time, if ever, for it to flower again. There is no sign of any keikis on this orchid.
I have seen pictures of this on other vandas, but it is the first time for me.
(The flowers has not opened , so i will wait a few days before i take a proper picture.)

How sad, I know what I went threw with my Phal but I kept it till it gave me that keiki and then shortly after it passed my phal was very old and I should have been told by the grower at that time it was a terminal spike, depending on long you had it I would inform grower and maybe get another chid (just a thought) dont give up on that keiki my Vandas have put out many it may take some time but you have nothing to lose at this point, good luck

I have a lot of vandas , so i just have to hide this one behind some of the others for the next 10 years or so
I bought it over a year ago, so it is a bit too late to contact the vendor.
