A 10" basket may be a little too much right now, but that's okay, go with it.

Your plant is still going to be tall, even after surgery, so you may want to drill a small hole in the bottom of the basket, slightly off-center, into which you put a stake to keep the plant upright as it's re-establishing itself. Use twist ties or cable wrappers to secure the plant to the stake. Coax any roots that you can through the bottom slats, taking care that the bottom of the stem (main growth) does not sit directly on a slat.
