Hey Buds, what is your setup for your Vandas? I am considering making a new enclosure only for Vandas...

My set up.... or lack of it.....
I have my two vandas outside during spring/ summer from 9am to dark, then they come inside next to the phals in my study.

My study is kept at 19C to 28C, humidity >50% and the ceiling fan is always 'on'.

I am thinking of getting some smaller vanda species, like Aerides multiflora. I believe it is possible to grow Aerides in s/h. Space is an issue for me!

I would be interested in your 'new vanda closure', what a great idea. Please keep us posted!!

Cheers,
Buds!

Sounds to me that you may be over watering your plant. The wierd thing is my vanda's will drop leaves if they are under watered, but wrinkled leaves are a tell tale of over watering... Just my .02 cents.....

Is that normal? On my Oncidiums, I would get crinkled leaves when they were underwatered? I always thought it was the other way around? Which is typical?

Great thread~~

I like the pics. Bud, I know that you are drilling holes in your vases & doing S/H.

I have my vandas in small vases--they're seedlings.
I have 2 larger Vandas that are in small clear plastic bathroom wastebaskets--I could not find a vase that would accomodate & not be so heavy.

I water daily--at least 1-2 hours.

RE: the wrinkled leaves--my vanda came fairly dry, the leaves were wrinkled. As the hydration improved, the leaves (except for the older ones) smoothed out.
