As others have pointed out, getting root tips wet seems not to be a problem as long as it occurs by normal growth. Apparently some orchid in nature will send roots to nearby streams. As long as the roots normally out of water stay as such, would not worry.

thanks nick
I noticed that if I left half inch of water in base for 1 or 2 days, tips die back ,drain right out after a soak they grow on well.

Oh my goodness, your vandas are beautiful!
Congrats on the fabulous blooms!
Is the larger one Princess Mikasa Blue?
I just love blue vandas! What is the name of the smaller one? The contast between the dark lip and lighter petals is just wonderful.
My Vanda Blue Magic is in spike just after 5 weeks in the vase!
I hope to show some results soon!
Thank you so much for sharing! We really enjoy your photos!

Wow great growing!
I have been trying for about 3 weeks now to find vases that will fit my pretty vandas and NO avail. I have 5 right now-- and I've killed two

I've been just about everywhere, the problem is that my roots are going just about everywhere, and dont want to break roots on a plant that is struggling- because of my dry conditions I'd like to keep them in a vase and not hanging free- No matter how high I keep the humidifier on for it wont get higher than 40% humidity...

If anyone has any advice suggestions, please please let me know.
Thanks
Suzie
