I run it 12 hours a day and will increase it as summer goes on. My wife and I have not even seen an increase in our electric bill! It says 2x2 foot area but if you ask me it does a lot more. They are bright enough you don't really want to look into the LEDs.
I know their not cheap but you get what you pay for and these are super bright! I actually am going to get more of them when cash flow allows for it.
* Just incase anyone is thinking it, I have nothing to do with this company. I love these lights but anyone is welcome to their opinion or to another brand!
** The first page has the extra pictures I said I would take.
How did you know to use 3 feet as the distance? I recently got an LED grow light from a hydroponics store in MPLS and the product says to place 12 - 18 inches from plants.
I use to use T5's and it was possible to use a light meter to measure Fc's in order to determine how far away the orchids should be.
I found that the light meter thing does not fly with LED's. So how do you determine the light distance for your particular wattage?
Hey Tracy,
The LED setup I have is 150w and very bright. However, looking at the video on kessil's website seems to show/suggest you can keep your lights 1 foot (possible more) away from your orchids.
In addition, many LEDs (usually) have focused light helping with distance options. The LEDs I have are safe to use at closer distances but I have some orchids with such long spikes I need the distance.
I have lower light orchids below my higher light orchids. They are 4 feet away.
I can take more detailed pictures. I don't own a yard stick though.
