Thank You, Nancy !!!!

I know my limitations in terms of grow zone area and space; that is why I make up a lot for it in the warmer months when I have high humidity and heat. But in the wintry months I just depend on my humidifier and centralized heater and my south facing baywindow....

I don't baby my Vandas...I leave them alone pretty much to themselves and I am just surprised with the wonders they show me.

When we lived in Ontario we had a South facing bay window and lots of sunshine in the winter. Here the summers are hot, dry and sunny and the winters are wet and dark. I bought some lights to help them along, but I find that mostly as long as they get lots of sun in the summer they still do well.

I always thought Vancouver had very humid in summers because of heavy rains in winter and you are near the sea....
bringing your Vandas outdoors in summer is just wonderful....
I also use supplemental lights in winter if it gets too gloomy.

I was surprised at the lack of humidity here, too. It's great in the summer because it sometimes gets up over 40 c [104 f] but with the lack of humidity and a gentle sea breeze, it doesn't feel like it. At night it always cools down.
It is so humid in the winter that I don't need extra humidity for the orchids.

oh I see, so you must water your Vandas twice a day in summers....once in the morning and once early afternoons....and in winter all you need is heat and supplement light....
