It grows slow while it is a young plant, but when it enters mature stage, it will grow fast like other vandas.
Besides, regular fertilization is helpful for the plant to grow and to bloom. It likes a lot plant food, almost more than cattleyas and other vandas.

Good info. You make me want to try growing one of these. I was told that my Pachong blue has a small amount of rhynchostylis in it which helps it bloom 3 times a year.

While grown outdoors, Rhy gigantea only blooms in late winter. I've never seen plants blooming in other seasons.
As for the crosses, it may blooms more than one time. That's also why people here like crosses more than the species.

Yes, I prefer hybrids for that reason. If you cross a plant that blooms in summer with one that blooms in winter, you usually get bloom at both times.
