My darwinara charm 'blue star' is producing another spike. This new spike that is forming is much more faster growing and the bracts are healthy and green. I think that the old spike, which is still stunted on the plant, was produced at the wrong time. I think that this plant is photoperiodic (whether it is short day plant or a plant that flowers when day length is around 12 hours in spring and fall) since when the first spike emerged it was placed under varying day lengths by artificial supplement light. Now that it does not recieve any supplemental artificial light it seems to spike normally and healthfully. It may also be flowering because of cool night temperatures (80F day and 63F-66F night). Anyways I am very happy.
