Thank you Bud!
I have to have one! I'll have to have a look around. I sure love that one on ebay, but I would rather not have to wait so long for bloom, and this would be a seedling.

@Vanda lover: my advice to you is to save money and invest on a blooming sized or have already bloomed species...small seedlings can be cheap but one can never know what will happen to it through the years...I did get seedlings too but it got bug infestations...one almost died of bacteria root rot; I had to resort to the big guns(heavy chemicals) to revive it...whereas: large specimens grown by reputable growers are healthy, sturdy and tenacious plants that are hard to kill no matter what neglect you do to it...they have already established themselves.

I think you are right about that. The only reason I got the seedlings is that I couldn't get any vasco, let alone mature ones. The vanda guy here on the island said he'll keep tying, and there is also hope from the grower who shipped my Renanstylis. He looks at how many previous spikes are on a plant before he buys them, and this little Ren. is a repeat bloomer. I'll wait for a more mature plant. Thanks Bud.

I get mature well established Mokaras from Thailand or Singapore, they have CITEM and Phyto certificates that come with it, but then our customs in NYC is not that strict when they see it is grown in an enclosed environment.
But then again I see growers from Florida and California who are now selling large matured Vandas ...maybe if they have the necessary paperworks it can pass Canadian customs...
I think your best bet is Cloud's(I also buy orchids from them) email them if they have the orchid you want in stock...maybe in the warmer months because Cloud's will not deliver orchids in winter.

I have bought from Clouds before, back when we lived in Ontario. I'll see what they have in the spring, but last I looked there weren't many vandaceous orchids.
Unfortunately they ship by distance in Canada and I can ship something to Australia cheaper than shipping it to Toronto, because we have special rates for other countries. The growers in Thailand that I've seen on the internet all seem to want you to buy in Quantity or not at all.

Yep. I looked. Just a few vanda species. I like hybrids that bloom a lot.

if you order through Ebay from reputable growers in Florida...do you think you can have it shipped and Canadian customs will agree to have them deliver it to you?
There is one Florida grower who has an array of Vandas and hybrids you can choose from...she posts items for sale every thursday and ends on Sundays so everything is delivered on Monday...she puts a heating pad in every box because its winter

Very few American sellers will ship to Canada. I'm sure there must be a way to get the paper work but it is usually very expensive. I'll check with the 2 BC. growers we have in the spring. One of them will be at an orchid show and the other would ship one. He has a nice variety of plants and they change all the time because he goes on buying trips. He has an interesting website but never gets it completed . It's CRORCHIDS. I bought my Renanstylis from him but he didn't have red vascos then. Hopefully he will eventually.

My favourite colours! Bud, I finally got my red vasco. The postal system lost it just before we went away for a week and it was almost 3 weeks in the mail! They sure are tough! My neighbour soaked the roots overnight and put it and my 2 free ones in vases for me. I got vasco roll on red. I love the flaming tones of your mokara! If only I had more room. One of my free ones was vanda Lumpini red, and it's almost as big as the vasco!
