Christieara Luang Prabang (Ascda Tubtim Velvet x Aerides Lawrenceae)

Presenting: Christieara Luang Prabang (Ascda Tubtim Velvet x Aerides Lawrenceae) in bloom. This new addition to my Vanda collection is quite fascinating in color and form. It does not resemble either parent. It has a unique lip folding over the center of the flower. The colors are soft pastels on a 4 inch flower that is very fragrant. It has a permeating scent of lilac and wisterias with a hint of watermelon that starts early morning and fades out by 10am…This usually produce 12 or more blooms …I took this picture when two of the flowers just fully opened and the other two are half opened…I will take another picture when the rest of the other buds opens.

Bud, thank you for sharing. The flower are just stunning. Being fragrant makes it better.

I need to get one of them. Sadly, however, I have to wait til spring. This winter weather stinks.

@Erythrone, it is 17 inches tall from crown to the top leaf...and it has a 14 inches leaf-span. The roots if unfurled in summer in the fire escape is 3 feet; but it is winter and I have to curl it all inside a 12 inches vase that I drilled 4 large holes so I can just water it in the sink.

@Naoki; I got this from a San Francisco grower (White Oaks Orchids) who sell blooming sized or have already bloomed plants. Check their site because this was the last plants on sale the time I got it thats why it was such a bargain. It is a delightful plant to care for...no fuss and just grows big...and it gave me colorful blooms
