You are right. There are ones that will bloom for a very long time, though, such as encyclia cochliata. Hybrids are much better bloomers for the most part.

Although, Vanda lamellata var remediosae blooms almost continuously for me. Also, Vanda ustii and Vanda merrillii, they bloom several times a year.
In general though, Aerides blooms only once a year.

That's good to know. I only have hybrids and they bloom really well. It's nice to know that there are species vandas that bloom a lot. If I only had more room!

A gorgeous plant.

I have missed this one . wuaaa fantastic.
I think I even prefer this variety than the type specie who is already very beautiful..
From my own experience, I would say that quite a lot of Vanda species bloom more than one time a year (at least under tropical/equatorial conditions) but that the Aerides bloom one time a year as the Rhynchostylis.

The splash of colors with the texture and form makes it very pleasing to the eye. I have to take a second look and go back to the former picture once again...
I have a 3 yr old seedling and I will just patiently wait for the blooms...once a year??!! darn it !
