I saw a vanda coerulea in spike and it's about 7" across and only several inches tall. But then I've also seen large coeruleas (by large, I mean, HUGE) at Longwood and the National Botanical Gardens.
I've had two V. coeruleas in the past. They had leafspans of around 7" and when I bought them, the seller said they were "several years from blooming." Unfortunately they both died of crown rot

.
Speaking of growing vandas in jars, I'm growing a hybrid Ascocenda x Vanda in a glass jar. I got it as a small bareroot seedling. It's been in there for two years, and I think it's nearing blooming size!
