I bought this from Lowe's back in Spring or early summer and repotted it in bark...what is black stuff on the leaves? (second pic). Boy, this thing grows too slow for me....I guess because my temps may be too cool for it.
These guys are generally very slow growers. They like a lot of light and water but the roots need to dry. The black spots are probably fungal due to water on the plant.

i agree. i have two of these(a red form and a peach) and while they do like water they don't like to be constantly wet. just misting in the winter. i have mine attached to a large piece of tree branch, and the roots are aggressively taking over the whole thing. i have found that air on the roots to be the most important thing. hope it works out.

Yep its a fungal thing and I gave up on doing the physan 20 thing...its not spreading so Im not bothered...my plant is a lazy grower and I am verbally threatening to expose it to direct sunlight to spike ...heh
I have one as well from Lowe's. It is growing in S/H and actually it is growing reasonably fast for me, comparable to a phal I would say. However, I should say that the "fragrance" of this one almost knocked me over when I took a close sniff...Never do that again.
