Endemic to the Philippines, V. luzonica is truly an endangered species. I'd like to find someone who has another plant in bloom right now who I can either send pollen to or be the recipient of some pollen so that we can do our part for the species' survival.
I grow this plant warm-to-hot in the summer with high humidity (80-95%), followed by intermediate temps in the winter and reduced humidity (50-65%). It gets watered a lot during the summer, and I fertilize it regularly. During the winter it's allowed to go dry between waterings (but it doesn't experience a true winter dry season) and fertilizer is kept to a minimum until new roots appear in the spring. No scent to the blooms, so I'm assuming that (hopefully!) it's the real V. luzonica and not a hybrid.
