Gage, keep your eyes open. I see this orchid at a lot of shows around south Florida. I bought this one at the Bonnet House Orchid Show in Ft. Lauderdale and I saw several at the Redlands show. Often it's the small vendors that have these older crosses.
these are beautiful!!! But i understand what you mean about frequent blooming! I like to miss my orchid flowers and to be taken a back when they do bloom! That why i love the cattleyas because they bloom only once a year especially the species! they have a distinct time for blooming and you anticipating that wonderful time of year to come!
I love your flowers especially the orange one you did the close up of!!!
Where did you find that pot, the one the spotted one is in? ive been wanting a pot just like that!!! im getting a Rhynchostylis Gigantea Alba and would love it if i could pot it in a pot like that!!! do you know where i could get one?
I don't know where to get those pots on-line. They are imported to South Florida from Thailand but they're more fragile than other clay pots so orchid vendors don't like to ship them. I bought that one at R.F. Orchids in Homestead and they told me that they won't ship them to customers because they often break. To tell you the truth I don't like them as much as I thought I would and I'm no longer using them. I do like the way they look though.
Thats good to know! i would probably break the pot them because i am very clumsy! i knock pots together very often or bump them against something while moving them. I love the way those pots look! but ill take the more sturdy route i want to get a cedar basket to grow it in so that it can go undisturbed for some time since they dont like to be bothered.
