Vanda middle leaf drying out and dead
Default Vanda middle leaf drying out and dead

Hello,

I have a Vanda growing under a 400 watt dual spectrum bulb about 2 feet away.

One of it's central leaves is dying, going from bruised as it was in the nursery, to dry and dead in the middle.

is this OK

It had flowered twice in the last year, and it is otherwise growing OK as with the one next to it

the temperature is 65F at night and 75F in the day.

Humidity 60% tp 80% RH

thank you

What is the name of that beauty? I grow outdoors in South Florida so my experience may not be of any help. I have occasionally (but not often) had a leaf turn yellow like that. Sometimes it's just from physical damage. I would cut off the leaf and, unless it spreads, I wouldn't worry about it. That's a very healthy looking vanda. Good luck.

I believe one cause of a Vanda dropping a leaf part way up the plant is because the plant has been stressed by under-watering.

it just a combination of waterspot/sun/fungus damage. Nothing to worry and happens on all vandas. Vanda are very tough and resistent to fungus, but all have occasional leaf drop or damage in the middle part.
