Vanda merrillii
Second bloom for this plant this year. One of my favorite Vanda specie.
From Luzon island in the Philippines, fragant flowers of 5 cm.

Thanks everyone !
Amanda, it is a pleasant fragance. A bit difficult to describe but very nice and not so strong.

Nicely done, Philippe! Please let us know how long the blooms last. Motes claims that V. merrillii has the shortest lasting blooms of all vanda species, and that they usually don't stay in good shape for more than ten days. My plants don't bloom as often as yours, but the flowers they produce in the summer last close to a month in good condition (assuming I can keep the grasshoppers, beetles and caterpillars away from them). I'm curious to know whether there's a lot of variation in flower longevity between different plants of the same species.

Hi Steve,
The flowers of this plant don't last long. I would say that the blooms last between 10 and 20 days depending, of course, of the temperature. You are lucky to have blooms of this wonderful specie who last a month !
On the other hand, the good point is that the plant blooms three times a year at least.
