My first Vandeaceos orchids
These are my First Vandeaceos orchids. The purple one I did get from my Husband. And the other two I did bye myself, because i liked them so much. As you can see I'm growing them in a vase. I noticed that there is also a special subject about vanda's in vases. Here in Holland it's very common because they get more humidity. At this moment they are not blooming anymore. So I hope to get them blooming again.

They're beautiful!!!!! And good luck with the vase culture. I grow mine this way too-- verdict is not yet in as to whether or not it's working! Though I do have new growth, which is always a good sign-- but the true test is whether or not they'll bloom for me!

Thanks a lot. Nice to hear that you're also growing in vases. Here in Holland it's done a lot. I'm also hoping they will bloom again. Now it's just wait and see.

Gorgeous, wonderful colours.
I think I'm going to try my next Vanda in a vase. I tried one potted which did well for about 12 months but then suddenly died, still don't know why. But they are sold in vases some of the time here and I think it's something I want to try.

Well they're doing well so far. I grow them like that because it's better for the humidity. Now I have to get them blooming again. I'm crossing my thumbs for that.

Good Luck! I look forward to seeing how you get on and when they flower again! Do you have their names?

Do you provide additional light in winter? My problem is not just the humidity, it's the need for high temps. and light as well. Hard to do without a green house.

Well I only have them since february of this year. And to be ownest i havent given them any extra light. Except for the normal light we have on in the room. So it's just waiting if they will bloom again.

I also grow these in vases. I keep mine in front of a SW facing window in summer, and in front of a NW window in winter. All flower at least once a year. I have had some for over 4 years & I soak everyday (as much as possible ) Hope this helps.
