Thanks Camille. I hope to do better with the ones I have now. In the last year I have invested in terrariums, which I can place in front of the window in the winter. They will house the cooler growing plants, whereas the warmer growing ones will be under lights.
Once I get a camera sorted out, I can start taking pictures.

Wow, I really really like yours!! I don't think it has a lot to do with culture since the ebayer I got it from is now selling some in bloom and the pics he puts of them look just like mine. I guess time will tell, hopefully mine will improve next time. Otherwise I have an excuse to buy another one!

It is probably correct that the over ripe bananas will ruin the flowers. Ethylene gas will cause buds to drop and most ripening fruit puts out some ethylene gas.

I learned that the hard way 2 years ago. I was cleaning the kitchen and ended up putting my fruit bowl (with some ripe bananas in it) on the table right next to some blooming phals. 2 days later the blooms on all 3 phals started wilting. So now my fruit stays far, far away from the orchids! The thing is, I already knew about it, but for some reason no bells went off in my head when I put the bowl next to the orchids!
