Hi, yes, it is indoors with no artificial lights. I bought it right at the beginning of January (it didn't have spikes) and it's grown them since then. The plant gets no direct sunlight that I've noticed (except maybe very early in the morning), but the room it's in has windows on three sides (it's an enclosed balcony), so it's fairly bright. I've often worried it doesn't have enough light, but I guess it's happy enough there, and the leaves seem the right kind of green! I guess that's the bonus of living in Africa, where the blue sky days way outnumber the grey and the sun is pretty strong (I'm at about 33.3šS). A vague guess from my random meanderings around with a light meter would be that it gets a fairly consistent 5-800fc of light throughout the day, but I'm not sure how accurate the meter is. I can stick it there and check if anyone wants, bearing in mind we're now going into winter, so it may be somewhat reduced compared to the last few months. I have a vanda and an ascocentrum right next to one of the windows (some afternoon sun, with net curtain between them and the glass).
At the nursery (Exotic Plant Co @ Franschhoek, .za), it was on the side of the greenhouse next to an opaque (polycarbonate?) wall, so it got quite good light there.
I haven't done a formal count of the number of blooms on there. I think I might just take this to our orchid society meeting tomorrow
