Long waited V. Rasri Gold x V. sanderiana
Here is the very first flower out of 8, might be 9. The buds are still being developed.
It is nearly 5" wide. The leaf span of the plant is a bid shy of 3 feet. It is the largest Vanda I have,

It would have been a better quality picture with a black background. But, I am not moving it around since it is such a BIG plant. Its roots are wild.

Updated with a Name
Since 7 flowers out of 8 are open, I took the plant to a local judging. After an intense discussion, it was not even close for an award, I guss.
But I got a name of the plant, which was exciting.
Vanda Roman Empress ( V. Kultana Gold x V. sanderiana alba) It was not 'Rasri Gold'.

Absolutely love the speckling!
It looks like it has "sanderina" in the breeding...?

Those are stunning! Does this plant flower more than once for you during the year, or does it follow the Euanthe sanderiana habit of flowering (usually) once yearly? Did you get any feedback from the judges letting you know why they didn't consider it worthy of an award?

I got this plant about 3 years ago though ebay when I was a ver amature Vanda grower, not knowing the sanderiana requirement. Since then, it just grew. As I changed the light bulbs in my growing area October last year, I moved it to right under the light and I modified the watering/fertilizing schedule. I think this made it decide to initiate the spike.
According to the judges, the presentation of the 8 flowers are not even and 7th and 8th flowers are not as big as the older flowers. DUH!
