Hi -- I am on easter Long Island (NY/USA), and it is always windy, cold in winter, and gorgeous in the summer! I wrote in a couple of days ago about my Sansai Blue (only one plant in addition to four other very healthy vandas!). The email was directed to "Pests and Diseases" and is entitled Vanda Sansai Blue, with cracks in multiple roots." As a northern grower, have you seen something like this? If you could check out my message, I would love to hear from you! I am a typical orchid nut, and have many different kinds of orchid in a small glass house, including keikis from phalaenopses and dendrobiums!
