Default Growing Rhynchostylis gigantea intermediate?

Does anyone here have any positive experiences growing Rhynchostylis gigantea in intermediate winter temperatures (winter nighttime lows anywhere between 55 and 60 F)? I can easily provide heat and humidity during the growing season, but winter temperatures are harder to keep high. I would basically like to know if I would be wasting my time by attempting to grow this species in intermediate temperatures during the winter. Thank you!

Steve

Hi Steve, my Rhyncs are growing in around the temps you quote. They don't grow as fast as they might with high temps but they are doing OK. Flowered the white one last year, hopefully all 4 will flower this year.

You can grow gigantea in interm temp. Rhy. do grow in mid elevation in the wild. All my Rhy. are just barely 60F in my growing condition. The plant will just grow alot slower and size will stay more compact. Which is fine coz i don't want 2 feet wide gigantea taking up all the space.

Hello, Roy and Wonderlen3000. Thank you both for your feedback. I'm glad to know that this species will grow (albeit more slowly) in intermediate winter temps. Thanks again!
