It's very easy to grow and flower. I got mine as a little seedling a few years ago and been blooming nonstop since, about x2 a year, once in spring and again in fall. Mine started blooming when the plant is about 6" tall, Plant grow very slow, about 2-3 leaf a year.
Light: medium to high, if you see purple tint on leaf, the light is good
Temp: inter-warm, night mim about 15-16' winter, will grow faster if u grow in warmer temp
Water: once a day spring/summer, winter - once 2-3 days, very drough resistent w leathery leaf and big fat roots
Potting: mine in small claypot with, winecork and a few moss (just to stabalize the plant), the roots are hard to keep in the pot anyway. You have to keep it up with totem once the plant get taller.

Thanks for the growing info Jorge V. & wonderlen3000. Definitely on the lookout for this one now. wonderlen3000, if you don't mind me asking, what part of Canada are you from - just curious about lighting conditions & in what location do you grow your plant (windowsill/greenhouse etc.). Do you place it outside at all for the summer (if thats possible). Thanks again for the info.

I just got a Ren Tom Thumb and your plant is one of the parents:
"This primary hybrid between Ren. monachica and Ren. imschootiana"
Very cool arching flowers!

Paula. I live in Calgary, AB. I grow all my Vandas on south facing windowsill. Because of the overhang roof, it got the most intense sunlight during spring and fall (unshaded) and thats when all my Vandas decided to bloom. All are in the same growing condition. That's include, Vandas, Renanthera, Aerides, Ascocentrum n Vanda hybrids.
I do take them out on the porch after 4pm and soak them with water during hot days and that happen like less than 10 days a year in Calgary weather. The weather is very un preditable in Calg, and its very dry. And the plant got dehydrated a lot quicker outside than indoor, even if i put them under shade. The dry wind just suck the water out of them. lol But I know alot of peoples in west coast and ontario put them outside during summer.
