Vascostylis Pine Rivers 'Fushia Delight'...
Sorry, I couldn't get a good picture in this hazy morning light. I'm very excited about this orchid. I bought it from a grower just south of Miami, Fl. The sales lady told me that this orchid blooms more often than any other orchid that they have. Up to six times a year. They only had five or six left and only this one had a keiki. The flowers stems are very tall and the flowers are a flouresant fushia in the sunlight.

I wouldn't be holding my breath waiting for it to flower six times per year. Two flowerings wouldn't be unusual.

That would depend on the care. If you do what I do for my Vanda, and follow the sun, it might happen. My Vanda blooms 3 to 4 times a year. I was told that there is a little bit of Rynhcostylis in it

Thanks, I grow mostly Cattleyas so anything more than once a year sounds good to me.

I love Catteyas, but they don't bloom enough for me. I had one in bloom at the same time as my vanda, and the flowers didn't last half as long.

I have a pac chong blue Vanda, and it can take lower temperaters, which is a good thing because we live in an area where it goes down to 52f and sometimes 42 f in the summer. I bring it in at night and hang it in an east window, so it can get the first morning sun. As soon as it warms up, I move it out to a south west shaded porch for the day. Boy does it bloom well! I accidently left it out at night a few times, but it didn't complain.

I paid a visit to Brighton Orchid Nursery at Narangba a little north of Brisbane in S.E. Queensland, Australia this a.m. and spoke with Fred and Ros Xerri the proprietors. Actually, I had morning tea with them.
Fred is the 'father' of Vasco Pine Rivers i.e he created it and registered the name some years ago. I have a number of cultivars of this cross of Rhy. coelestis x Ascda. Peggy Foo.
I asked them about flowering frequency and apparently the plant is capable of flowering up to six times per year. In Ros's words, "It will flower itself to death". She said that she starts pinching out the new spikes after #3 or #4.
Fred is the 'father' of many Vanda alliance orchids and Vanda fans would no doubt be familiar with the names 'Pine Rivers', 'Brighton', 'Narangba' etc etc.
