Bought the same plant at Lowes about 8 months ago. Mine isn't near spike, but has grown nicely. Hope it's as beautiful as yours.
Does yours have an odor? Is it peachy?

I think WhiteRabbit is right when she mentioned peachy being something agreeable, as in something that is 'peachy keen'. Very nice blooms! AL

If you switch it over to the basket, it will be easier to keep a little humidity around it. I have my Vanda in one, with sphagnum and charcoal. It is easy to tell when the moss is dry, it needs water.
You also will need to water much less this way
