My apologies. I took another look at the photos and I misinterpreted the 2nd one as being submitted by Rosie. Man, I guess I need new glasses. In the second photo you can definitely make out the growth as being a spike. Congrats!!!

Now I've got myself confused. Are both of your photos pictures of the same growth, or is the second photo a comparison picture of what a spike is supposed to look like? Thanks.

it is a comparison! sorry for not making it clear with the description... these are two plants!

both are ascocendas and both "spikes" started almost at the same time, but one is definetly a spike and the other is something I do not know what...

A keiki would be with leafes and a spike is rounder...

Thank you for the clarification. The first picture still looks to me like it could be a keiki. Is the growth in question nearer to the base or up higher on the plant? Could you furnish us with a picture of the entire plant? It might be helpful. Also, can you tell if the plant in question has ever bloomed before. If it has there should be a short remnant of the spike left. It would be brownish in color like a stick between the leaves. Thanks.

Yes it bloomed, and the "keiki" is in the middle :D

It looks like there is a split down the middle kinda like where leaves could pop out?? I think it might be a keiki, if it's not I'm really sorry for getting your hopes up in advance!

Hmm, those new pictures make me think more keiki.

Would love to find out what it turns in to, so keep us updated.
