What alliance is the Haraella in? I've never come across this one before.

We've got it classed under Vanda here, it's certainly vandacious but then so are Phals. It may be in one of the other smaller alliances amongst the vandacious orchids.

I'm very inclined to say Aeridinae because of the spur. A very worthy species to have in your collection.

OK, found it. This may be out of date the way they keep moving things arround but here goes anway.

Subfamily: Higher Epidendroideae
Tribe: Vandeae
Subtribe: Aeridinae
Alliance: Trichoglottis
Genus: Haraella

It's considered a 'vandaceous' orchid because it's in the tribe of Vandeae, as are things like Phals. Although here on orchid board we have Harella listed in the Vanda alliance it's actually as far removed from Vanda as Phals are.

Phalaenopsis, Vanda and Trchoglottis are all Alliances within the subtribe Aeridinae.
