Default WATERING VANDA WHILE AWAY

Hi every one,
I have a vanda manuvadee it is large and hangs in my conservatory. I water it in a bucket as it has very large roots. Has anyone any ideas to keep it watered for a few days has anyone got a small spraying system that has a timer. I would be grateful for any ideas please. It has a 12 flower stem very beautiful.
Monet.

Hi nenella,
Yes I usualy leave it will a nieghbour but she is away at the same time. I have just found an article leaving roots to grow into water in a container this sounds interesting apparently the roots dont rot if they grow into it. It will be interesting to see if anyone comes up with spraying system.

You doubt its ability to survive a few days without water?

Hi Monet,

if it is really for a few days, don't worry at all.

A few days will be fine. If the weather will be hot while you are away, you could move the plant to a shadier position or put a bucket of water underneath such that it gets a bit more humidity.

What is the temperature at night ?
Is it getting enough warmth while you are away?
use a large piece of jute soaked well and wrap it around the bulbs.
It will automatically get warm in the day time. I will add soaked coconut husks pieces in between to retain the moisture . But how to find it over there?
This will help you up to two days.

A health plant should be fine fore a few days without water especially if you can move it to a location that is a little cooler out of the sun without much air movement
