It is no problem. I was worried the first few times I went on vacation. Now I only have a few small plants that I worry about. For the Vandas even many seedlings I didn’t think twice about just sticking them in a bathroom with the door closed and the vent turned away from them when I went to the Bahamas for a week.

Hi Neb,
Sorry I am late to say thank you for your help. In case its a longer period my husband is going to try to rig up a spray using windscreen washer on a timer. He made a stand with a light on for the winter in our house which seems to work.

Vandas can take a "drying out" break during the summer in South Fla. I don't know what your conditions are but I wouldn't worry about it at all. I've been away for a week and they survived, both the indoor and the outdoor ones.

Hi Swamper,
Thank you for advice the weather here is damp 64f so my orchid is hanging on a stand with a light on in the house. The last flower of this year is dying off sadly. It has stopped sending out the green root tips so is going into rest period. So I will not worry if I go away for a few days.
